Jess Tasker

Jess Tasker is a Halifax based photographer specializing in location and editorial photography with an emphasis on travel, people and sport. Her passion for photography started at a young age when she opened her first National Geographic and began taping it's gold framed cover photos to her wall.

Jess attended the nationally acclaimed Claude Watson School for the Arts in Toronto where her appreciation for the aesthetic was honed. Later pursuing a degree in Human Kinetics from St. Francis Xavier University, the visual world was never far from her thoughts, resulting in an undergraduate thesis focusing on the importance of art in the Olympic Games. A minor in art from St. Francis Xavier University and continuing education courses at NSCAD University, speak to Jess' intent to constantly improve upon and push her abilities to capture the world through a lens.

Having lived her life as both an athlete and an artist, Jess is able to see the world in a way where the kinetic and aesthetic combine, allowing her camera to become an extension of her body. Art and sport, along with a desire to constantly experience the world allow Jess to capture life from a unique perspective.
